TRULY MISUNDERSTOOD GENIUSES? A MULTIDIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS OF GIFTEDNESS, TWICE-EXCEPTIONAL PROFILES, AND INCLUSIVE EDUCATIONAL APPROACHES BASED ON UDL

Anna Maria Mariani, Eugenia Treglia

Abstract

The article examines the phenomenon of giftedness and twice-exceptional profiles by considering neurobiological, psychological, and pedagogical perspectives. Through a critical review of recent literature, it offers an integrated overview of the characteristics of these students and their educational needs, with particular attention to the application of the Universal Design for Learning model as an inclusive educational approach capable of addressing the diverse needs of gifted and twice-exceptional learners.
